FlowCAT | High-Pressure Flow-Chemistry in a Compact Unit

For continuous flow catalytic reactions

The FlowCAT is compact, benchtop unit used for high-pressure flow catalytic reactions. The flexible design allows screening, optimization and scale-up of both homogenous and heterogeneous chemistry in the same unit. This can incorporate a combination of different gas and liquid feeds.

Customize your specification

FlowCAT comes with standard specifications but can be modified to suit custom applications.


The standard FlowCAT allows temperatures of between 300 °C. With a customized solution, temperatures of 550 °C, and sub-ambient can be achieved.


The standard FlowCAT allows pressures up to 100 bar. With a customized solution, 200 bar, can be achieved.

Reactor Types

Tubular reactors in stainless steel or Hastelloy, as well as other material, are available
With choices of 6, 12, 18 mm diameter with working length ~150mm (volume from ~4 ml to 38 ml). Longer reactors of 280mm and 410mm with additional heating zones are also available.

Pressure Regulation

A computer-controlled back-pressure regulation valve handles single and multiple phases of gases and liquids without any adjustments.
The system also handles a wide range of working pressures making it simple to alter conditions.


Vent gas measurement (optional)

The gas leaving the reactor (product or excess feed) can be measured and recorded to enable complete mass balance calculations.
Digital wet gas meter and other sensors can be used for vent gas measurement.


Link to GC and PAT probes

The product can be measured and injected into client-supplied GCs if necessary.  Also, a range of on-line analytical devices (such as FTIR probes) can be integrated to provide real-time analysis.


Software control

  • Full software control of pressure, temperature and feed rates of liquid/gas
  • Edit conditions any time without stopping, allowing for changing of reaction conditions with little to no downtime
